Terms of service
These terms apply when you use the Trainpane app, a Trainpane account or this website (together, "Trainpane"). Trainpane is run by Peter Gifford ("we", "us"). By using Trainpane you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Safety first. Trainpane can control your trainer's resistance and, on some machines, a treadmill's speed or incline. Exercise carries a risk of injury. Read the safety section before you train with it.
The beta
Trainpane is in beta. It's free during the beta, by invitation, and it will have bugs. Features may change or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times. We may end the beta, or your place in it, at any time. If we later charge for Trainpane, we'll tell you beforehand, and you won't be charged unless you agree.
Safety
- Check with a doctor before starting a training programme, especially if you have a heart condition or other health concerns. Stop at once if you feel faint, dizzy, short of breath or in pain.
- Trainpane can change your equipment's settings. In ERG mode it sets your trainer's resistance, and on a treadmill a workout plan can change the belt speed or incline while you're on it. Stay alert and in control, use your equipment's safety features (such as a treadmill's safety key), and know how to stop it quickly.
- Bluetooth can drop out. Software, Bluetooth connections and equipment can fail or behave unexpectedly. Never rely on Trainpane to stop or slow your equipment.
- The numbers are estimates. Power, heart rate, pace, distance and other figures come from your sensors and may be inaccurate. Don't use them for medical decisions.
- Keep children and pets away from moving equipment, and follow its manufacturer's instructions.
You use Trainpane with your equipment at your own risk.
Your account
You must be at least 16 to use Trainpane. Keep your login secure, and tell us at support@trainpane.com if you think someone else has used it. You're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time from the app.
Your workouts
Your workout data belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run Trainpane for you, including uploading the workouts you push to your Strava account. How we handle it is described in the privacy policy.
Strava and other services
Trainpane is compatible with Strava, but isn't made, sponsored or endorsed by Strava. Your use of Strava is covered by Strava's own terms. We aren't responsible for Strava or other third-party services, including whether they accept an upload or stay available.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse Trainpane. In particular, don't:
- interfere with, overload, or try to gain unauthorised access to our servers or other people's accounts;
- upload data you don't have the right to upload, or falsify workouts in ways that break Strava's rules;
- use Trainpane to break the law;
- resell Trainpane, or share your beta access, without our permission.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Our software
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Trainpane app for your own training. The app includes open-source components, which are covered by their own licences. Feedback you send us may be used to improve Trainpane, with no obligation to you.
No warranty
Trainpane is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability, to the extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, arising from your use of Trainpane. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Trainpane in the previous twelve months and US $50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that rule applies.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Trainpane after that, the new terms apply.
General
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, USA, except where the law of your country of residence gives you protections that can't be waived. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
